The Data Archive relates to several other services at SURFsara:
The Data Ingest Service offers users the possibility to upload data from external storage media such as external hard-drives to the Data Archive storage facilities. The service is suitable if there is not enough bandwidth to transfer data via internet. Refer to the Data Ingest Service page for an extensive description.
Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) are used to make data referable in papers and traceable across different infrastructures. SURFsara offers the possibility to attach EPIC PIDs to data ingested in the Data Archive. More info can be found on the PID consortium website.
B2SAFE is a robust, secure and accessible data management service. It allows common repositories to reliably implement data management policies, even in multiple administrative domains. Moreover, research communities and large-scale projects can use B2SAFE to replicate their data robustly and securely. B2SAFE provides tools to apply data policies at various locations, so that identical collections of data are managed based on the same policies.
Data policies are sets of rules and processes for regulating data management. B2SAFE is in line with the policies developed within EUDAT and can be expanded to include the policies of a research community, department or institute.
Metadata can improve the findability and usability of your datasets. The Data Repository service combines metadata, archiving and persistent identifiers to enable long-term storage and availability of your data. See the dedicated Data Repository overview for more information.
The SURFsara Data Archive allows the user to safely archive up to petabytes of valuable research data.
Persistent identifiers (PIDs) ensure the findability of your data. SURFsara offers a PID provisioning service in cooperation with the European Persistent Identifier Consortium (EPIC).
